My three girlfriends and I, mourning the passing of Steve's career as the host of Blue's Clues and at the same time celebrating his new one as a musician, decided to invent a drink commemorating our favorite new Rock Godlet. We scoured our local grocery stores, buying up every liquid we could find with blue or green packaging. We mixed and drank until we passed out in a pile on the kitchen floor. Having invented drinks before, we knew to take notes as we progressed, lest the perfect recipe be forever lost in a drunken blackout. Below is the final recipe, a couple of variations, and a list of all our trials and errors from our (handy dandy) drink inventing notebook.

"THE STEVE"

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Vodka (Skyy - It's in a blue bottle)
Blue Moon Berry flavored Kool-Aid
Lemonade flavored Kool-Aid
Lime (Green - Like the famous striped shirt)
Glass (Preferably blue or green tinted)

TO MAKE THE DRINK:
Mix up your Kool-Aid's in separate pitchers and refrigerate. Pour one shot of vodka (two if you're a lush) into your glass. Top off with equal parts of Blue Moon Berry and Lemonade. Add lime as necessary to disguise the vodka flavor or just look cute on the rim of your glass. Prepare to have a blue tongue afterward.

TO MAKE THE SHOT:
Pour yourself one shot of vodka. Add unmixed powder of both Kool-Aid flavors until your shot is bright. Toast to something good.

NON-ALCOHOLIC VERSION:
Just don't add the alcohol, you moron.

THE BLUE DRINKS WE TRIED:

Vodka, HPnotiq, Arizona Rx Memory, lime- Leslie says this one tastes like ass, but i disagree. It's not SO bad. I would have thought it was cool to drink in junior high school, like Bartles & James

Vodka, Arizona Rx Memory, Beachside Blast Fruitopia, Blue Raspberry Baby Bottle Pop powder, frozen lime juice concentrate- Both of us agree this is a top notch drink. Adding the frozen lime stuff was the perfect touch. This one may be in the running for the finals.

Vodka, Hpnotiq, Arizona Rx Memory, Blue Moon Berry Kool-Aid powder- This one is on the right track. Kool-Aid is a very engoodening ingredient but I suspect this Hpnotiq crap is what's making it taste off... Yes... after tasting it by itself we have concluded that it is the worst tasting liquid ever to fool me into buying it with its hypnotically cute blue bottle.

Vodka, Glacier Freeze Gatorade, Ice Blue Raspberry Kool-Aid, Lime- This one's really good. The Kool-aid powder makes it UberSweet. I may also try a frozen version

Vodka, Hype energy drink, Cascade Crash Gatorade- Nevah-evah-evah again. This tastes like ass. Warmed over. It smells like Carnation Instant Breakfast, but considering what we put in it, it shouldn't. Usually we stick each drink out to the end so as not to waste valuable liquor, but we poured this one out immediately and threw the Hype away.

Vodka, 7Up, Cascade Crash Gatorade, Arizona Rx Memory- Outstanding. The Arizona is grapefruity and the 7Up provides a pleasant amount of carbonation. We added Kool-Aid powder; I thought it ruined it, but Leslie says it's better this way.

Vodka, 7Up, Blue Moon Berry Kool-Aid, powdered lemonade mix- Eh. It's really generic. The 7Up made it bland, so we mixed another one without it and its really good. Possibly in the running for winner.

Vodka, lemonade, Blue Moon Berry Kool-Aid- I intended to make this one as a shot, but I fucked it up so it's now a regular drink. But a very good drink. Its Hand Grenade-esque like you get in New Orleans, but blue instead of green.

Vodka, Lemonade powder, Pepsi Blue- Me likey. Leslie likey too. After the initial too-much-lemonade-powder incident, she created another really good one.

Vodka, Kool-Aid powder, Lemonade powder- Awww yeeuh. This one is really good. In shot form with just the powders or with the lemonade and kool-aid actually mixed, it's excellent.

Vodka, Razz Blast Safeway soda, 7Up, Kool-Aid- Bland. Too drunk to elaborate.

Vodka, Lemonade, Fruitopia, lime- Generically good. All blue things taste the same after a while.

Vodka, Pepsi Blue, Fruitopia- I have lost two pens tonight. I am very drunk.

THE GREEN DRINKS WE TRIED:

Green Whiskey Jello Shot (store bought, not home made), AMP energy drink- We put the jello in this one to try and create a striped effect, but you have to swallow them separately no matter how hard you try. It's aesthetically pleasing but a pain in the ass to drink.

Vodka, Amp energy drink, Melon liqueur, lime- The girls keep babbling about how this is like a kamikaze, but who cares. Its better by a 2 to 1 vote

Whiskey Jello shot, lemon liqueur, gatorade powder- The drink is mediocre. but I came up with the neat concept of rimming the glass with the gatorade, much like salt on a margarita. I wonder if they sell Gatorade in powder form in places besides here...

Lemon liqueur, melon liqueur- Hollie tried to layer this one, but instead it curdled. Bleh.

Vodka, Red Bull, Gatorade, Melon liqueur- Nothing to write an opera about. Not bad, though.
